"I had Mrs. H as an English teacher for two years in high school, and she had a huge impact on my life in high school and beyond. Mrs. H helped me develop my love for writing, and I will forever be thankful for that. While in her AP Literature class, we had numerous essay writing opportunities, and Mrs. H's teachings and feedback were invaluable. The writing skills that she taught me helped me immensely in writing essays in college. With the writing skills that she taught me, I became a sportswriter for my college's newspaper and had the opportunity to cover Notre Dame sports while in college. Although I earned my degree in chemical engineering, the writing skills that Mrs. H taught me have made me into a more well rounded individual in the working world as well.

Mrs. H also helped me significantly in writing my college essays. Mrs. H made sure to dedicate class time to essay writing, and she helped me to structure the essays correctly and find ways to make my essay stand out. I struggled at times to convey my ideas in an effective, organized manner, and Mrs. H helped me to be more concise and meaningful in my vocabulary and paragraph structure. Mrs. H had a huge impact in helping me get into my dream college, Notre Dame.

Most importantly, Mrs. H cared about me as a person outside of the classroom as well. There were times in high school that were very difficult because of stuff going on outside of the classroom, and Mrs. H was always there for me if I needed someone to talk to. There are a select number of high school teachers that I feel have truly impacted my life, and Mrs. H is undoubtedly one of those teachers."

Mrs. Hauth-Schmid is an outstanding English teacher, and I was so fortunate to learn from her back in high school. Mrs. H made me feel as if my voice mattered, and she never made me feel like I had to change myself for the college admissions process. She took a small piece of me and capitalized on it, helping me turn it into a winning essay that got me into the college of my dreams. It only takes one person to make you feel special and turn that feeling into a heartfelt, meaningful, and impactful story. For me, that person was Mrs. H.

I will miss seeing Mrs. H around the halls of my high school when I go back and visit, but I know she'll continue helping students nationwide find their voices and chart their own paths."
